Here are highlights of our 2000 - 2001 season special performances.

An Evening with

Craig Courtney

On October 13th, we shared an evening of music by internationally renowned composer and clinician, Craig Courtney, as he led this special performance by the Dayspring Chorale. Mr. Courtney shared the life experiences from his faith journey that inspired many of his choral works.

Mr. Courtney's relationship with the Chorale began in 1998, when he was asked to compose an a cappella Sanctus for the Chorale's performance at High Mass in St. Peter's Basilica in Vatican City.

In addition to composing, Mr. Courtney is a talented conductor and pianist: a former member of the faculty of the Mazarteum in Salzburg, Austria; and staff composer and chief editor for Bechenhorst Press, Inc., a leading publisher of sacred choral music.

A Holiday Musical Event with the Dayspring Chorale

Fellowship Hall • Performances: Sat., Dec. 2 • 7:00PM

Sun., Dec 3 • 2:30PM † Sun., Dec.3 • 6:00PM

During both worship services on Sunday, December 17, 2000, the Dayspring Chorale, soloists and orchestra presented The Magnificat, by Johann Sebastian Bach. The text of this work is Mary's speech from Luke 1, where she learns that she is to give birth to the Messiah. 2000 marks the 250th Anniversary of Bach's death, and there could have been no better way to commemorate the influence his music has had in the world. Or to prepare for the birth of the Christ child.
